Karuppu Release Issue: Suriya-Starrer Faces Early Morning Show Cancellations Hours Before Release

Karuppu Release Issue: The release of Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, encountered an unexpected setback on Thursday, May 14, after the film's planned 9 AM first-day-first-show screenings were cancelled. The development came just hours before the movie's scheduled worldwide theatrical release.

Producer S. R. Prabhu confirmed the update through a post on X in the early hours of Thursday. In his statement shared around 1:17 AM, he said that the 9 AM screenings of Karuppu had been cancelled due to "unavoidable reasons" and apologised to audiences awaiting the film's release.

The announcement followed an earlier message from director and actor RJ Balaji on the night of May 13. Addressing fans on social media, RJ Balaji stated that the production team was attempting to resolve ongoing issues affecting the release. He mentioned that the film had faced multiple hurdles during its production journey and expressed hope that the situation would be sorted out in time for the release.

Reports circulating online have linked the disruption to alleged financial issues connected to the film's release process. However, the makers have not officially disclosed the exact reason behind the cancellation of the morning shows. It remains unclear whether later screenings across all territories will proceed without interruptions.

Karuppu Cast And Crew

Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu is described as a Tamil action drama produced by Dream Warrior Pictures. The screenplay has been co-written by RJ Balaji along with Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, T. S. Gopi Krishnan, and Karan Aravind Kumar.

Apart from Suriya and Trisha, the film also features Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy, Yogi Babu, and Anagha Maya Ravi in supporting roles. The project marks another major theatrical release for Suriya.

The technical crew includes cinematographer G. K. Vishnu, editor R. Kalaivanan, and music composer Sai Abhyankkar. Vikram Mor has taken charge of the film's action choreography.
