Directed by RJ Balaji, the film was released worldwide on May 15, 2026, and has been recording strong collections during its opening weekend.

According to trade tracker Jerin Georgekutty, Karuppu is estimated to have grossed close to ₹78 crore worldwide within its first two days in theatres. The update, shared on X on May 17, suggested that the film witnessed a strong Saturday performance across domestic and overseas markets.
While detailed territory-wise figures are yet to be officially released, the tracker described the film's second-day trend as particularly strong in several regions. The update also indicated that a detailed box office breakdown would be shared later.
In a separate social media post shared on Sunday evening, Jerin Georgekutty projected that Karuppu could target more than ₹120 crore gross during its opening weekend if the current trend continues. The tracker also claimed that Karuppu had already surpassed the final worldwide collections of several of Suriya's recent releases and could soon challenge the lifetime gross of Singam 2 if the current trend continues.
However, no official confirmation regarding these projections has been issued by the makers so far.
