Thalaivar 173 Is Titled Dharman: Rajinikanth's upcoming film, which had so far been referred to as Thalaivar 173, now has an official title. The makers announced on Wednesday, June 24, that the film has been titled Dharman, ending speculation around the superstar's next project with Raaj Kamal Films International.

The title was unveiled through a social media post shared by the production house at 10:16 AM on June 24. Along with the title announcement, the makers also released a new poster featuring Rajinikanth in a striking new look, while confirming key names attached to the project, including director Ashwath Marimuthu, composer Anirudh Ravichander, action duo Anbariv, actors Yogi Babu and Simran, and actress Raashii Khanna.

The post carried the line "தர்மமே வெல்லும்!" ("Dharma will prevail"), followed by the hashtag #Dharman, formally introducing the title after the film had been promoted under its working name for several weeks.

Dharman Poster Reveals Rajinikanth's Character Look, Confirms Director

The newly released poster offers the first fuller look at Rajinikanth's character in the film. The actor is seen in what appears to be a hospital or surgical setting, dressed in blue medical scrubs and standing with a blood-stained weapon in hand. Surgical lights, medical equipment and shattered glass are visible in the background, while the poster also shows him stepping on a body lying on the floor. The design presents a much more detailed glimpse of the film's visual world than the earlier title reveal announcement poster, which had only featured a close-up of a hand holding a knife.

The poster also appears to confirm the film's tagline: "The Deadly Doctor." If retained in the film's promotions going forward, it may point to Rajinikanth playing a doctor in the project, though the makers have not yet shared an official plot synopsis or character details.

Apart from revealing the title, the announcement is also significant because it effectively settles the long-running uncertainty around the film's direction. While several names had been linked to the project in reports over the past few months, the new poster and official post now place Ashwath Marimuthu as the director of Dharman.

The technical and production credits mentioned in the poster include cinematographer Niketh Bommi, editor Pradeep E Ragav, production designer M. R.
