TVK Manifesto: Vijay Promises ₹2,500 Aid For Women, Job Stipends & Farm Loan Waivers Ahead Of Tamil Nadu Polls
TVK Manifesto: Actor-turned-politician Vijay has unveiled the manifesto of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in the run-up to the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. The document outlines a series of welfare measures and economic proposals, with a focus on women, youth employment and social support systems.

A key feature of the manifesto is a proposed monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 for women heads of households under the age of 60. The party has also committed to easing household expenses by offering six free LPG cylinders per year to every family. In addition, marriage assistance schemes form part of the proposal, including the provision of one sovereign of gold and a silk saree for brides from backward communities.
Support for women-led self-help groups is another component of the plan. The manifesto states that such groups would be eligible for interest-free loans of up to ₹5 lakh, aimed at encouraging small-scale entrepreneurship and financial independence. In the education sector, TVK has proposed an annual assistance of ₹15,000 for mothers to help ensure children remain in school and reduce dropout rates.
The party has also outlined measures related to higher education and healthcare. These include interest-free education loans of up to ₹20 lakh and the establishment of residential schools equipped with modern facilities across both rural and urban areas. A health insurance scheme covering up to ₹25 lakh per family has also been proposed as part of a broader public health initiative.
Addressing concerns around substance abuse, Vijay stated that stringent action would be taken against drug trafficking, aligning with the party's stated goal of creating a drug-free state.
Youth Stipends, Internship Plan And Farm Loan Waiver Among Key Proposals
Employment support and financial assistance for job-seeking youth also form part of the manifesto. It proposes ₹4,000 per month for graduates and ₹2,500 per month for diploma holders. In addition, the party plans to provide five lakh youth annually with stipend-based internship training in collaboration with private companies. Under this initiative, graduates would receive ₹10,000 per month, while ITI and diploma holders would receive ₹8,000 per month, funded by the state government.
In the agriculture sector, the manifesto proposes a complete waiver of cooperative crop loans for farmers owning up to five acres of land, while those owning more than 5 acres will receive a 50% waiver. It also proposes a legally guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP) for agricultural produce, with ₹3,500 per quintal for paddy and ₹4,500 per tonne for sugarcane.
