TVK Vijay Next Campaign Update: Tirunelveli, Tuticorin Visits Planned As Nominations Cleared In Key Seats

TVK Vijay Campaign Update: Actor-politician Vijay is set to resume his election campaign with a visit to southern districts, following recent developments related to his nominations and earlier campaign plans.

TVK Vijay Campaign Tirunelveli Tuticorin Visit Planned

According to a report by DT Next dated April 7, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) general secretary N Anand confirmed that Vijay will campaign in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin on April 8. The party is yet to release a detailed itinerary, with Anand stating that the final schedule and specific locations will be announced through official channels once necessary police permissions are obtained.

While Tirunelveli is expected to host a campaign event, there remains uncertainty over whether a roadshow will take place there. In Tuticorin, Vijay is likely to meet party cadres and supporters, but no public address has been scheduled as of now, Anand added.

The upcoming visit comes shortly after the cancellation of Vijay's planned campaign in Chennai. He was earlier expected to appear in Villivakkam and T Nagar constituencies on April 6 and 7. However, those programmes were called off amid speculation regarding permission issues. Police sources, cited in the report, indicated that limited permission had in fact been granted, though the events did not go ahead.

Vijay's Nominations Cleared In Perambur, Tiruchy East Despite Objections

Parallel to campaign developments, Vijay's electoral prospects received a procedural boost on Tuesday, with his nomination papers being accepted in both Perambur and Tiruchy East Assembly constituencies after scrutiny. As per a report by DT Next, his filings had attracted objections from rival candidates, particularly concerning details in his affidavit, including asset declarations and notarisation.

Election authorities, however, cleared the nominations after review. The Returning Officer for Perambur stated that objections must be backed by verifiable evidence, directing those who raised concerns to formally substantiate their claims. The Tiruchy East nomination was also accepted without delay, indicating that due process had been followed.

In addition to Vijay, nominations of key TVK leaders were also approved. Party general secretary N Anand's papers for the T Nagar constituency were accepted, while Aadhav Arjuna, another senior figure overseeing campaign management, cleared scrutiny after facing multiple objections.

Officials maintained that all nominations underwent standard verification procedures, with objections recorded and addressed in accordance with election norms before final decisions were made.

With his nominations now in place and campaign plans resuming, Vijay's next public appearances in southern Tamil Nadu are expected to be closely watched as the 2026 Assembly elections approach.
