Vaa Vaathiyaar Box Office Collection Day 5: Karthi's Action Comedy Film Slows Down After Early Festive Push
Vaa Vaathiyaar Box Office Collection: The Tamil action-comedy Vaa Vaathiyaar, featuring Karthi in the lead role, has completed its first five days at the domestic box office with a modest overall performance. The film, which released theatrically on January 14, 2026, arrived during the Pongal festive period. As of Day 5, early estimates suggest that the film has collected approximately ₹7.54 crore India net.

According to figures reported by Sacnilk, Vaa Vaathiyaar opened on Wednesday with collections of around ₹1.65 crore. Thursday witnessed an improvement, with the film earning about ₹2.35 crore, marking its strongest day during the opening stretch. However, collections declined on Friday to ₹1.55 crore, followed by a further drop on Saturday, when the film added roughly ₹1.45 crore to its total.
On Sunday, Day 5, the film is estimated to have earned around ₹0.54 crore, based on early and rough data. The sharp dip on the weekend suggests that audience turnout slowed after the initial festive push. Taken together, the first five days resulted in a cumulative India net collection of ₹7.54 crore.
The day-wise trend indicates that while the film benefited briefly from the Pongal holiday advantage, it struggled to sustain momentum beyond the initial days. The Thursday spike stands out as the peak of its run so far, with subsequent days reflecting a gradual decline in footfalls.
Film Details and Post-Festival Box Office Trend
Written and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, Vaa Vaathiyaar blends action and comedy. Set in a fictional town, the story follows a man raised by his grandfather, a devoted admirer of a legendary film star and political leader. From a young age, the grandson is brought up with strict ideas about power, authority, and image. As he grows older and joins the police force, his actions begin to differ sharply from the values he was taught. At the same time, rising public anger over corruption and misuse of power creates unrest in the town. Caught between expectations, identity, and duty, the protagonist faces situations that challenge his choices, leading to consequences that shape the course of the film.
Alongside Karthi, the film features Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, and Rajkiran in key roles, supported by an ensemble cast. The film is produced by K E Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green banner. Music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, with cinematography by George C. Williams and editing by Vetre Krishnan.
As the film enters Day 6 on January 19, trade observers will closely monitor how it performs during the regular weekday cycle now that the festive period has passed. The coming days are expected to offer a clearer picture of Vaa Vaathiyaar's overall theatrical trajectory. For now, the film has wrapped up its opening phase with a modest cumulative total at the Indian box office.
