Vaa Vaathiyaar New Release Date: Karthi Starrer Set For Long-Awaited Theatrical Debut After Delays

Vaa Vaathiyaar New Release Date: The Tamil action-comedy Vaa Vaathiyaar, headlined by Karthi, is finally gearing up for its theatrical release after an extended and eventful delay. The film, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green banner, is now scheduled to arrive in cinemas during the Pongal festive window.

Karthi Starrer Vaa Vaathiyaar New Release Date

Vaa Vaathiyaar has had a prolonged and complicated journey to its theatrical release. The film was initially planned to arrive during the Pongal festive week in 2025 before being postponed to December 5 the same year. However, in early December, the Madras High Court issued a stay on the film's release due to pending loan-related issues involving the producer.

Amid this development, the makers announced a revised release date of December 12, but the film was postponed indefinitely a day before its scheduled release as the financial issues remained unresolved. It was later reported that the team was aiming for a December 24 release, coinciding with the death anniversary of M. G. Ramachandran, subject to resolving the outstanding matters. However, the Supreme Court subsequently upheld the Madras High Court's stay, dismissing Studio Green's appeal and preventing the film's release at the time.

Following the resolution of these hurdles, the production house officially announced a new theatrical release date of January 14, 2026, on January 10. The film has since received its U/A certification from the Central Board of Film Certification, clearing the final regulatory step ahead of its long-awaited theatrical debut during the Pongal festival.

Ensemble Cast, Narrative And Language Versions

Alongside Karthi, the film stars Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, and Rajkiran in prominent roles, with a supporting ensemble that includes Anand Raj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, G. M. Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, P.L. Thenappan, Vidhya Borgia, Nivas Adthitan, Madhur Mittal, and others. The film's music has been composed by Santhosh Narayanan, marking another collaboration between the composer and the director.

In addition to its Tamil version, Vaa Vaathiyaar is set to release in Telugu as a dubbed version titled Annagaru Vostaru, expanding its reach beyond the home market. The story centers on a devoted follower of M. G. Ramachandran who raises his grandson, believing him to be the legendary actor's reincarnation. As the boy grows older and begins forming his own identity, the narrative explores the conflict between legacy and individual choice.

With the release date now confirmed, Vaa Vaathiyaar is set to arrive in theaters as scheduled, bringing an end to the uncertainty surrounding its release plans.
