Vijay-Stalin Meeting Today: What To Expect As Tamil Nadu CM Meets Former CM After Power Shift
Vijay-Stalin Meeting: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is expected to meet former Chief Minister M. K. Stalin at the latter's residence on Monday afternoon, a day after the newly formed TVK-led government officially assumed office in the state.

According to the latest reports, the meeting is scheduled to take place around 2:30 PM after the conclusion of the Assembly proceedings. Reports indicate that Vijay had contacted Stalin regarding the visit before the meeting was finalised. The interaction is being closely watched as it comes immediately after a major political transition in Tamil Nadu.
The meeting also comes a day after Stalin publicly congratulated Vijay following the swearing-in ceremony while also responding to some of the remarks made by the new Chief Minister during his first address in office. In a social media post, Stalin welcomed several welfare-related announcements signed by the TVK government soon after assuming power. At the same time, he disagreed with Vijay's comments regarding the state's financial situation and debt burden, stating that Tamil Nadu's debt levels remained within permitted limits and had already been explained in the state budget.
Stalin further said that the responsibilities of governance would provide a clearer understanding of the challenges involved in fulfilling electoral promises. The remarks have also drawn attention to whether issues related to governance, welfare commitments, and the state's financial position could figure in the meeting between the two leaders later in the day.
Tamil Nadu Assembly Proceedings: Newly Elected MLAs Take Oath
The development follows a busy day at the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, where newly elected MLAs, including first-time legislators from the TVK, took oath on Monday. Pro-tem Speaker M. V. Karuppaiah administered the oath during the proceedings that began in the morning.
Chief Minister Vijay was the first to take oath as an MLA, followed by several ministers from the new Cabinet. Members from opposition parties, including leaders from the DMK and AIADMK, were also sworn in during the session.
Among those who took oath were Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin and AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami. The current Assembly session carries added significance as a large number of TVK legislators are entering the House for the first time following the party's electoral victory.
The developments have also drawn attention to the changing dynamics within the opposition. Following the election setback faced by the DMK, Udhayanidhi Stalin has emerged as the leader of the party in the Assembly, marking a significant shift in the state's political landscape.
Meanwhile, Vijay is also expected to visit veteran political leader Vaiko later in the afternoon after meeting Stalin. Reports suggest that the visit is scheduled for around 3:30 PM.
The coming days are expected to remain politically significant in Tamil Nadu, with the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker scheduled next. A trust vote is also anticipated later this week as part of the government formation process.
