Veerappu
is
a
remake
of
the
yesteryear
Malayalam
hit
Spatigam.
Debutante
director
Badri
has
directed
the
film.
Director
turned
hero
Sundar
C
has
proved
his
capability
to
act
in
“heavier”
roles.
The
film
is
based
on
the
kind
of
behaviour
a
father
should
not
have
and
that
a
son
should
have.
"Entha
Kuzhanthaiyum
Nalla
Kuzhanthaithan
Mannil
Pirakkayile...Avan
Nallavanaavathum
Theeyavanaavathum
Annai
Valarpathiley..." is
a
famous
song
from
one
of
the
late
legend
MGR's
film
in
70's.
It
is
also
Veerappu’s
tag
line.
Story:
Vedhakkannu
(Prakash
Raj)
is
a
high
school
teacher
who
is
known
for
his
hard
disciplinary
ways.
He
has
won
the
President’s
Award
for
Mathematics.
He
doesn’t
even
spare
his
won
son
from
his
being
punished.
He
always
says
that
his
son
is
the
real
culprit
behind
all
the
mischief
that
happens
in
the
class.
So
he
punishes
him
until
he
finds
out
who
really
played
the
prank.
Due
to
this
harassment
by
his
father,
Vedhakkannu’s
son
turns
against
him
and
always
opposes
hi
father
in
whatever
he
does.
His
fear
of
his
father
makes
him
bad
at
maths.
He
is
good
at
science
and
electronics.
One
of
his
hobbies
and
talents
is
making
electronics
gizmos
–
something
that
his
father
refuses
to
acknowledge.
The
refusal
that
he
gets
at
home
from
his
father
makes
him
a
rowdy
and
he
runs
away
from
his
family.
He
meets
and
falls
in
love
with
his
one
time
classmate
who
turns
his
heart
back
towards
his
father
and
who
helps
him
mends
his
ways.
For
Sundar
C,
this
is
a
surely
a
benchmark
film.
His
mannerisms,
costumes
and
style
along
with
80’d
popular
sunglass
will
surely
remain
in
the
minds
of
his
fans.
His
expressionless
face
has
only
enhanced
his
enactment
of
his
role
of
a
ruffian
lorry
driver
in
the
movie.
Prakash
Raj
has
done
justice
to
his
role
that
is
if
you
refrain
from
comparing
him
to
the
great
Thilagan
who
prayed
the
role
in
the
orignal.
Gopika,
in
the
role
of
a
young
teacher,
has
enthralled
the
viewer’s
hearts.
The
game
that
she
plays
to
win
over
Sundar
C’s
heart
is
well
shot
ands
one
of
the
interesting
plots
of
the
film.
Vivek
joins
in
the
fun
with
yesteryear
heroine
Anju.
His
presence
in
the
film’s
cast
lights
up
the
film.
Ilayaraja’s
music
is
also
good.
Verdict:
very
watchable
