Thoranai - Review
Thoranai is yet another half-baked mass masala from Vishal and his debutant director Sabha Ayyappan. There is nothing new in this flick and both the bottle and wine are very stale but somehow, it is watchable, thanks to Santhaanam and his comedy team.
The story (?) is going like this...
Murugan (Vishal) is a happy-go-lucky (as usual!) village guy in Madurai (Ayyo paavam Madurai!), who gets hauled up before the Panchayat for breaking pots and wreaking havoc during the village fair along with his friends.
Then he rushes to Chennai to search his missing brother Ganesan (Kishore) on request of his mother. Ganesan is ran away from his house at the age of 10. The reason is simple. He is beaten by his mother for tattooing his sweet heart's name (murai penn) on his chest.
Now Murugan goes in search of his brother every in possible way along with his big mouth partner Santhanam. One day Murugan witnesses a murder by Guru (Kishore) one of the two gangs, which roam the streets of the city, with a formidable weaponry like in most of the Telugu films.

There are lot of punches (dialogues) throughout the film, which really damage the viewers ears! Here is a piece of Example: 'Sollittu adikkaravan illa, sollara madhiri addikiravan', 'Nee adicha panam, naa adicha pinam'...
Vishal has tried to do some justice for his action-comedy role. But the poor narration spoils everything. There is no scope for Shreya. Her looks are also very poor and irritating in this movie. Good artistes like Prakash Raj, Kishore and Shayaji Shinde are wasted in usual roles. Mani Sharma's music is big test for your ears!
Verdict: Average
