Yathumaagi- Review

Yathumaagi, in one word, is a soft romantic love story in laboured and sluggish manner resulting in making the viewers feel bored and tiring.

Sachin belongs to a wealthy family and is an advertisement photographer. He courts trouble wherever he goes. He is quite intuitive and spontaneous in his activities. Sunaina is a simple girl, whose world is nothing but a circle comprising her home and the inevitable idiot-box. She falls in love with Sachin but he cares little for her feelings. Soon he falls in love with her but his easy going behaviour puts their affair into trouble. How they overcome this trouble and keep their relation is all the climax.

The worst part of the film is that there is nothing new in this film. No new concept is tried to impress the audience. The director just meant to create a love story which is very ordinary. He simply repeats many sequences that we had already come across in many other films. The reason shown for Sunaina falling in love with Sachin is utterly childish and typically filmy and seems unnatural. The way they get to meet frequently sans any logic or interest. As far as the artistes are concerned Sachin failed to portray the character of a care free youth. Sunaina looks beautiful and stunning. Her facial expressions and flawless figure is the only merit of this otherwise dud of a movie.

Azhagan Thamizhmani, who plays Sunaina"s father, doesn't symbolise anything in the film. He seems very unnatural. Riyaz Khan's character was equal to a dummy without any significance. James Vasanthan has tried his best to add flavour with his imaginative back ground score and a couple of melodious tracks. Director Balakumar"s screenplay and dialogues needed much more preparation and editing. Yathumagi is a dull and boring fare through out.
