Mappillai - Preview

Dhanush has given back to back hits in the form of Uthamputhiran and Aadakulam. Now, for his next venture, he has teamed up with Suraj for Mappillai. They have worked together in Padikathavan.

Mappillai is a remake of Rajinikanth's yesteryear blockbuster film with the same name. Interesting point of the film is that the superstar's son-in-law himself is starring in the film and enacting the role played by Rajini in the original.

The story of the film revolves around a kind-hearted boy , who falls in love with and a rich woman's daughter. As expected, she opposes it but the couple marries against her wishes. Soon, she vows to separate them but against all odds, her son-in-law teaches her the hard lessons of life and make her realize that love and affection are more important than money.

According to Suraj, Dhanush was the first and only choice he had in his mind to play the lead role. The director has roped in Manisha Koirala and Hansika Motwani for the mother-daughter roles, which was played by Srividya and Amala in Rajinikanth starrer film.

Mani Sharma has scored six songs for Suraj's Mappillai for which Viveka, Snehan and Pa. Vijay have penned the songs. The audio of the film was released on March 11, 2011.

Mappillai is produced by Nemichand Jhabak and Hitesh Jhabak and distributed by the Sun Pictures. The movie is all set to release on April 08.
