Vanakkam Chennai marks the debut of Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, the wife of producer-actor Udhayanidhi Stalin. It stars Shiva and Priya Anand in the lead roles. While Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, Richard M Nathan has handled the cinematography department.

Shiva is having a great year. Three of his movies (Thillu Mullu, Sonna Puriyathu and last month flick Ya Ya) have been released in 2013. Now, he is game with his new movie Vanakkam Chennai. The latest movie is biggest among them all, simply because the movie is directed by the wife of a leading producer.

The movie bosses have left no stone unturned to give a good publicity to Vanakkam Chennai. Has the movie lived up to audience expectations? What the movie has to offer? Find it in the movie review...

Ajay (Shiva), a Msc gold medalist, is in Chennai to find a job that suits his qualification. London-based Anjali (Priya Anand) comes to the same city to take up in a photography competition. Narayanan (Santhanam), a house broker, who dupes people by renting out unoccupied houses to individuals without the owner's knowledge. Ajay and Anjali become the victims of his scheme as they land with the keys of the same house.

Ajay and Anjali are forced to stay together as they are completely helpless. Initially, they fight and struggle to live in the house. But gradually, they turn friends. In the process, we are told thar Anjali is engaged to NRI Deepak (Rahul Ravindran). Even though he knows the truth, Ajay starts liking her.

The problems that Ajay and Anjali face and how they overcome them is told in a comical way in Vanakkam Chennai. The first half is engaging and passable. But the second half drags a lot. Continue reading the Vanakkam Chennai review in the slideshow...

Verdict

Director Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi is almost successful in her debut movie. Though there are jerks, the movie has turned out to be an engaging affair.
