It
takes
one
man's
will
to
change
the
course
of
history
forever.
When
the
chips
are
down,
even
the
faintest
hope
can
make
a
legend
out
of
a
common
man.
It
does
not
matter
if
you
are
fighting
a
goon
or
a
big
corporation.
Kaththi
is
the
story
of
one
such
man,
who
reinvents
himself
to
unite
people
to
fight
for
a
common
cause.

With
great
expectations
and
amid
controversies,
Ilayathalapathi
Vijay's
Kaththi
was
released
to
houseful
theaters
all
over
the
states.
Movie
starts
with
a
prison
escape
and
enters
flashback.
A
formula
that
is
a
favorite
of
director
AR
Murugadoss.
The
story
is
about
a
man
who
fights
for
the
sake
of
a
farmer.
In
the
process,
he
takes
on
a
major
corporation
which
wants
to
acquire
the
lands
of
these
farmers.
The
story
sound
simple
but
the
dual
role
of
Vijay
is
the
plot
twist
in
the
movie.
As
any
movie,
it
deals
with
the
struggle
of
the
protagonist
and
how
he
eventually
overcomes
the
problem.
Vijay
plays
a
dual
role
of
Kathiresan
and
Jeevananthan.
One
is
a
mass
leader
with
a
non-violent
approach,
the
other
is
a
petty
thief
prone
to
violence.
In
spite
of
this
stark
difference
between
the
two
characters,
the
director
has
missed
out
in
bringing
two
different
personalities
in
Vijay.
One
would
feel
the
overlapping
similarities
between
the
two
characters.
While
the
cinematography
is
decent,
the
background
score
is
not
up
to
the
mark.
It
almost
seems
like
Anirudh
Ravichander
is
losing
his
midas
touch.
What
really
lets
down
the
movie
is
the
screenplay.
With
too
many
logical
loopholes,
it
really
gives
a
big
blow
to
the
quality
of
the
movie.
However,
the
action
packed
dialogues
for
Vijay
makes
up.
Vijay
fans
are
in
for
a
treat
with
his
dialogues
and
unique
action
sequences.
While
the
movie
lacks
the
substance
to
become
iconic,
it
will
still
entertain
you
for
the
first
time.
A
weekend
watch
perhaps?
