Thirudan Police Movie Review: The Movie Has Come Out As A Fun Ride

Rating:
3.0/5

Thirudan Police is the third film in which Attakathi Dinesh has been portrayed as a hero. This film created some decent expectations after Dinesh's performance in his previous film as a blind person. Also since the Cuckoo actor managed to bag a role of a cop in Thirudan Police, it added extra curiosity to the film before its release among movie buffs. So what does Thirudan Police has to offer?

To begin with, it is not a film which portrays a tough cop or a daunting villain instead its a film which manages to tickle your funny bone.

Plot:

The protagonist's (Attakathi Dinesh) father is a honest and a candid police constable who is disliked by everyone including his own son. Him along with Assistant Commissioner's son (played by Nithin Sathya) are two reprobates in the area and a new girl comes to their area as their neighbor. Iyshwarya Rajesh who plays the daughter of a Sub Inspector catches the attention of both Dinesh and Nithin Sathya on her arrival and the two start their petty fights over the girl.

Seeing his son indulging in fights with the police constable's son, Assistant Commissioner calls upon the hero's father to warn him of dire consequences if his son continues to fight with his own son. The strict police constable, who doesn't have anything to do with this raises his voice against his superior and walks away. Being insulted by a constable, the AC plots his downfall by involving him in an encounter of a popular rowdy played by Rajendran.

Rajendran kills the police constable in the battle and Attakathi Dinesh gets his father's job. Dinesh who initially feels happy about his father's demise gets to know about the difficulties that were faced by his father once he takes up the job of a PC. He gradually learns about the execution that led to his father's death and how he seeks revenge forms the rest of the story which is been told with the right mixture of humour.

Performances:

Attakathi Dinesh has shined in the movie when he portrays a carefree son who dislikes his father and then as a helpless police constable who is treated like a servant in the department. He has expressed anger while dealing with culprits who brought about his father's downfall in a nice way by bringing out an angry and to some extent a strict police officer.

Iyshwarya's role is limited as she appears only in duet songs and to flaunt her beauty before the hero. Bala Saravanan is seen throughout the movie along with the protagonist and has done a fair job taking care of the humour section.

Technicalities:

Yuvan Shankar Raja's background music adds some stability to the film while his songs are disappointing. Cameraman Siddharth has done an excellent job while Caarthick Raju excels as a director with his ability to make a film interesting with his screenplay.

Verdict:

Though Thirudan Police is the same old story of revenge, debutant director Caarthick Raju has managed to steal the show with right mixture of comedy, sentiment and action. Thirudan Police will manage to surprise you for comedy has been delivered both by the cop as well as by the miscreant which will make you laugh throughout the film.
