Ivanuku Thannila Gandam Movie Review: Rajendran Saves The Day But Only Just!

Rating:
2.0/5

Out of many movies that released today, Ivanuku Thannila Gandam had some expectations among fans and movie buffs. Has Ivanuku Thannila Gandam managed to impress the audience? What does the movie has to offer? Read our review to know.

Plot:

Deepak plays a futile anchor who doesn't find peace at work. To make things worse, one of his colleague gives him a tough competition which puts Deepak's job at risk. If his professional life is a mess, his personal life too doesn't treat him well leaving him distressed.

In the midst of all these unfortunate events, he is chased by a money lender to whom he owes lots of money. Frustrated with his life, Deepak chooses to take out the exasperation by joining his friends for a late night booze party.

Deepak wakes up the next morning to find a couple of dead bodies. His money lender and the troublesome colleague are now history which puts him in deeper trouble. He gets a call from the killer who informs him that he has succeeded in his job. Who is this killer? Will Deepak be able to sort out all his issues forms the crux of this story.

Performances:

Though Rajendran makes his appearance only in the second half, he carries the entire film from that point onwards. Ivanuku Thannila Gandam can be termed as a Rajendran film as this movie would almost be worthless without his contribution.

Lead actor Deepak has done a fair job but one feels that his acting could be more refined if he aims to make it big as a hero in Kollywood.

Supporting actors Sentrayan and Elango along with the debutant actress Neha Rathanakaran have done justification to their respective characters.

Technicalities:

Screenplay in the first half is stagnant. Apart from the last 30 minutes which turns this movie into an unbelievable fun riot thanks to Rajendran and his antics, the rest of the movie fails to evoke enough interest to keep the audience hooked.

With unwanted sub plots, the editor could've done a much better job in making Ivanuku Thannila Gandam an interesting watch. Background score by A7 is a tad below average.

Overall View:

Ivanuku Thannila Gandam entertains you in parts mostly because of Rajendran without whom this film would've gone absolutely flat.
