"#Aranmanai2
,
horror
comedy
multi-
starrer
releasing
today
355
screens
in
TN.
Terrific
advance
booking,
big
screens.
The
palatial
house
they
live
in
is
apparently
haunted
and
the
evil
spirit
succeeds
in
scaring
everyone
residing
in
it.
This,
until
Sundar
C
arrives
to
throw
a
light
on
who
the
evil
spirit
really
is.
We
are
then
taken
back
in
time
to
know
more
about
the
ghost
in
its
human
form.
The
rest
of
the
story
revolves
around
finding
who
the
ghost
is
and
the
means
to
drive
it
away
from
the
troubled
family.
Performances:
While
Trisha's
glamorous
side
takes
over
the
actress
in
her,
Hansika
on
the
other
side
is
brilliant
to
watch.
Perhaps,
performing
in
a
horror
flick
comes
naturally
to
her?
Siddharth
is
wasted
in
the
movie.
The
actor's
choice
of
film
is
poor
and
pretty
much
evident
in
Aranmanai
2.
Poonam
Bajwa,
with
her
subtle
expressions
manages
to
impress,
though
her
character
is
clichéd.
While
Sundar
C's
role
looks
shoved,
the
bright
spot
in
the
performance
department
comes
from
the
movie's
face
savers,
played
by
Kovai
Sarala,
Manobala
and
to
an
extent
Soori,
for
comedy
sequence
(specially
in
the
second
half)
is
the
only
thing
Sundar
C
seems
to
have
got
right
in
this
flick.
Technicalities:
Aranmanai
2
is
technically
poor.
Barring
the
second
half,
which
is
a
touch
pacier,
everything
else
looks
below
par
in
the
technical
department.
Be
it
the
outdated
visual
effects
(VFX)
or
the
formulaic
flashback
portion,
everything
about
Aranmanai
2
looks
bygone
and
tiring.
Apart
from
a
few
songs,
'Hip
Hop
Tamizha'
Aadhi's
music
comes
across
as
a
shocker.
His
background
score
though
elevates
certain
scenes,
despite
being
a
touch
too
loud
at
places.
Cinematography
by
UK
Senthil
Kumar
is
probably
the
weakest
link
amongst
everything.
Yes,
he
has
managed
to
capture
the
natural
beauty
of
a
village,
but
has
he
managed
to
spook
you
with
his
angles?
Perhaps
no.
Overall
View:
Aranmanai
2
may
work
largely
because
of
its
second
half
and
comical
portions,
but
isn't
it
high
time
our
directors
avoid
lacklustre
movies
in
the
name
of
horror-comedy?
