Imaikkaa Nodigal Review: A Taut Thriller Backed By Solid Performances And A Refreshing Film-making!

Imaikkaa Nodigal is indeed a thriller of a ride. Director Ajay Gnanamuthu has once again shown his expertise in keeping the audiences thrilled with the narrative pattern. The way in which he has thrown the surprises in the most unexpected time is very impressive. It can't be said that the script of the film is fool-proof, but it has all the elements in it to qualify for a good thriller. The director in Ajay Gnanamuth tries to overcome the minor flaws in the script by his making style.

The running length of the movie is close to 2 hours and 50 minutes, but Ajay Gnanamuthu has packed the movie neatly without giving lethargic moments. The way in which he has dealt with some of the crux sequences is highly appreciable. At the same time, the routine romantic angle in the first half of the movie could have been shortened a bit. The action sequences towards the latter part of the movie too is on the downside.

One of the major high points of Imaikkaa Nodigal is its casting. Each and every character of the film has its own job to do. Nayanthara is top notch as the CBI officer and we get to see yet another controlled and highly effective performance from the talented actress. Anurag Kashyap is top notch as the antagonist and he adds a lot of intensity to the role. It was refreshing to see someone like him in such a role. Atharvaa suited the role pretty well and he has done a good job. Similar is the case with Raashi Khanna, who plays Krithi. Vijay Sethupathi once again proves that he can make an impact even with a short screen time.

RD Rajasekhar's Cinematography deserves special mention. Editing is also fine except for the fact that some of the romantic portions could have been cropped off. Hip Hop Thamizha's BGM serves its purpose exceedingly well, as it adds to the intensity and mood of the movie.

Imaikkaa Nodigal has everything in it to keep you engaged as well as thrilled for the majority of its runtime. The solid performances and the making style of Ajay Gnanamuthu assure that the film serves its purpose perfectly.
