Well, Sandakozhi 2 is in fact a continuation of Sandakozhi and the story happens a few years from where Sandakozhi had ended. This time, Balu has to take over the resposibility of protecting a young man named Anbu, who is being hunted by a family that is seeking revenge against Anbu's family.

Sandakozhi 2 Review: The Vishal Starrer Qualifies As A Decent Entertainer!

The storyline might be simple but Lingusamy's ability to etch a well-layered script out of a routine stuff has helped the film a lot. He has sprung in some surprises, especially in the aspects of the background in which the story is set, the characterization of the protagonist, the reason for the revenge etc. The film moves out of the cliches by coming up with surprises in these angles.

Lingusamy has packaged the film in a truly entertaining way. There are some very entertaining mass moments in the film, which are worth the money that you have spent on the movie. The interval block filled with some fine surprises is sure to keep the audiences hooked to the narrative. Lingusamy has taken utmost care in placing the romantic angle without losing its importance in the storyline.

However, the film does lack the necessary steam in many portions. It has to be said that some of the portions in the second half of the movie does pull the film away from the right target. At the same time, being a sequel, comparisons are obvious and Sandakozhi 2's energy isn't as much as that of the prequel.

Vishal is in top form as Balu and he carries the film on his shoulders with the amazing screen presence and power-packed performance. Raj Kiran reprises the role of Ayya and one might feel that he should have got more importance. Keerthy Suresh has come up with a very lively performance as Chembarathi. However, it is Varalaxmi Sarathkumar who steals the show in many portions with the amazing portrayal of the character named Pechi.

BGM works by Yuvan Shankar raja deserves a big appluase and it helps the movie in escalating the tempo in many portions. Cinematography by KA Sakthivel is fine. The editing could have been crisper, especially in the second half.

Sandakozhi 2 is indeed a decent entertainer and it has its own set of captivating moments. At the same time, it shouldn't be compared with its prequel, which still remains tall.
