Giant
cut-outs,
huge
banners
and
people
in
hoards
are
in
front
of
the
theatres
to
welcome
rising
star
Siva
Karthikeyan's
Seema
Raja
on
the
occasion
of
Vinayagar
Chaturthi.
Expected
to
be
a
thorough
entertainer
without
any
logics
in
the
writing,
Seema
Raja
had
already
seen
some
impressive
bookings
for
initial
shows,
thanks
to
the
festival
season
and
Siva's
star
power.
Director
Ponram
has
joined
hands
with
Siva
for
the
third
time
after
Varutha
Padatha
Valibar
Sangam
and
Rajini
Murugan.
Much
similar
to
expectations,
the
movie
comes
without
any
formidable
storyline.
Siva
Karthikeyan,
who
has
established
himself
as
a
mass
hero
already
seems
to
have
gotten
into
the
shade
of
Superstar
Rajinikanth.
He
comes
in
a
chariot,
mouths
punch
dialogues,
a
tussle
during
a
cricket
match
and
few
sequences
resembling
to
Superstar's
few
movies.
Siva's
arch
rival
is
a
character
who
is
also
the
head
of
another
village,
but
in
a
bad
light
and
characterization
who
often
picks
up
quarrel
and
creates
stir
amongst
his
own
people.
The
first
half
of
the
movie
is
directionless
without
any
sturdy
content.
It
has
some
amount
of
comedy
between
Siva
and
Soori
while
the
hero
falls
in
love
with
a
PT
teacher,
Samantha.
As
expected,
there
is
a
certain
amount
of
love
laced
with
comedy.
The
movie
takes
a
decent
cut
with
an
interesting
flashback
episode
of
narrating
the
ancestral
story
of
Seemaraja's
family
dated
back
to
1400s.
We
are
introduced
to
a
folklore
genre
which
reminds
us
smattering
of
the
Baahubali
series
setup
which
is
indeed
laudable
for
the
given
timeframe
and
budget.
However,
the
entire
stint
is
short
lived
and
we
are
pulled
back
once
again
to
the
present
typical
routine
stuff.
Just
to
close
the
loop
and
provide
more
vibrancy
and
dynamism
to
the
protagonist's
characterization,
Siva
is
put
in
a
situation
to
save
farmers
from
a
difficult
plight
and
fight
the
baddies.
Movies
from
director
Ponram
have
always
been
deemed
as
entertainers,
which
runs
majorly
on
comedy
sequences
and
quick
screenplay
despite
not
coming
with
a
strong
content.
However,
he
seems
to
have
missed
the
magic
with
Seemaraja
to
an
extent
as
the
comedy
portions
don't
quite
workout
here.
Saying
that,
the
same
was
the
feel
with
Rajini
Murugan
initially
though,
it
was
later
well
received
by
the
audience.
Siva
Karthikeyan
is
undoubtedly
one
of
the
best
entertainers
of
the
present
generation
who
can
involve
and
engage
audience
throughout
the
movie.
His
screen
presence
is
commendable
and
can
capture
attention
easily.
Soori's
comedy
works
sporadically
but
his
dedication
towards
developing
of
6
pack
abs
is
truly
commendable.
Though
Samantha
doesn't
have
a
meaty
role,
she
comes
and
goes
with
a
mark
etched.
Simran
is
totally
wasted
with
a
non-sync
adequate
for
a
movie
of
this
genre
which
gives
ample
scope
for
mass
fans
to
rejoice
and
celebrate
in
theatres.
Seema
Raja
is
a
typical
no-logic
commercial
entertainer
which
is
lower
than
Siva-Ponram's
previous
flicks
in
terms
of
quality
and
entertainment.
However,
it
could
come
as
a
decent
package
for
audience
who
enjoy
typical
run-off-the-mill
kind
of
movies.
