Jigarthanda DoubleX Review: Raghava Lawrence & SJ Suryah's Period Action Film Hits Screens; SEE Tweets HERE

Karthik Subbaraj's latest period action drama, the much-hyped SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence-starrer 'Jigarthanda DoubleX finally opened on the big screens worldwide. The movie was released to a massive positive response on November 10.

Jigarthanda DoubleX features a plethora of talented actors and writer-director Karthik Subbaraj is all guns with this gangster drama, which is touted to be a spiritual successor of his 2014 release, Jigarthanda. This movie was released at a time in Tamil and Telugu right in season for the Deepavali festival.

Jigarthanda DoubleX Premise

The movie is set in Madurai, in 1975. A gangster named Pandian, who looks very intimidating, aspires to become the first dark-skinned hero in the Tamil film industry and he eventually hires an aspiring director Ray Dasan, who was a former assistant director to Satyajit Ray. They together begin a movie titled Pandyaa. As the film progresses, Pandiyan's rivals try to attack him, causing a mayhem.

Folks have been waiting for this film to be unveiled on the silver screen and they were disappointed when they learned of cancelled premieres overseas. The movie stars Raghava Lawrence as Pandiyan, a gangster, and SJ Suryah as Ray Dasan, a budding film director. The movie also features Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, Naveen Chandra, Sathyan, Aravind Akash, Ilavarasu, and Bava Chelladurai among others playing important characters.

The period action drama was written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Kaarthekeyen Santhanam, S Kathiresan, and Alankar Pandian bankrolled the movie under the Stone Bench Films, Invenio Origin, and Five Stare Creations banners.

Santhosh Narayanan composed the film's entire sound and score. S Thirunavukkarasu cranked the camera and Shafique Mohamed Ali worked as the editor.
