Karan Johar, who co-judges the television show India's Got Talent along with Kirron Kher and Malaika Arora, seems to have got himself in trouble. A few days ago, he shared a video on his Instagram handle from the sets of the show, in which Kirron Kher is seen wearing a spike bamboo Arunachalee hat. Upon seeing the headgear, Karan says, "oh my god, what is that on your head?" When Kirron says, "People from Arunachal Pradesh have brought it for me and they have got this for you,", he responds saying, "You are looking like you are going to break into some kind of qawwali."
Ever since the video has been making rounds on the internet, people from across the nation have started trolling him for allegedly 'insulting' the northeast culture. Twitterati is furious with him for his 'shameful and cheap act'. Here are more such Tweets!
"The way North East of was being insulted openly in a national level podium was not acceptable at all. The hat & jaapi were given to you as a sign of love & respect. #IndiasGotTalent #karanjohar." - (sic)
"You do not need guts to wear a Jaapi, you just need sense and some respect towards other. Be a gentleman, don't just look like one @karanjohar #assameseculture #Assam #KaranJohar." - (sic)
"@karanjohar you need some sense and respect towards other to wear a Jaapi. Be a gentleman, do not just look like one. #assameseculture #Assam #KaranJohar." - (sic)
"Shameful and cheap act by #KaranJohar. The way @karanjohar insulted the assamese jaapi is shameful. He should apologize. #Assam. #KaranJohar." - (sic)
To this Karan just issued an apology statement on Twitter saying, "You are absolutely right and I would like to apologise if I have hurt any sentiments.....it was purely unintentional and came from a place of no knowledge which is absolutely no excuse....am extremely sensitive to the different cultures of our land and I am very sorry...."
