Angad of Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai, Shaurya of Kkavyanjali and Shiv of Karam Apna Apna - Mohammad Iqbal Khan the hot sensation of television, a macho persona with baritone voice, great physique is indeed heroism personified in every household today where television and its potboilers reign supreme.
A college drop out, he pursued his luck at modelling and film career only to realize that he was destined to make it big in the small screen. His initial gamble at modelling and acting in movies like Fun2shh and Bullet: Ek Dhamaka were futile endeavours. Eventually fortune turned favourable when he was handpicked by Balaji Telefilms to play the lead role of a menacing, mysterious rock star, Angad Khanna in Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai. Sharing a good on- screen chemistry with Neha Bamb and the backing of a well-written screenplay, the serial turned to be a popular daily soap for Sony Tv.
The rock star image much appreciated by the audience enabled him to procure meaty roles in other soaps as well. Very much a common household name, Iqbal Khan undertook cameo roles as well. Ekta Kapoor's Karam Apna Apna one of the most sought after serials on Star Plus has Iqbal Khan playing the lead role of Shiv, a cassinova character whose ill-fated marriage to Gauri (Pallavi Subash) leads to a chain of troubles one after the other. The audience' interest is built up with the passing of every scene between Shiv and Gauri, the unusual love-hate relation they share.
Juxtaposing among various roles and acting them out to perfection without running into monotonous strain, the actor in Iqbal Khan has always lived upto the expectations of the audience. An out and out workaholic Iqbal gives prime importance to his work and the projects undertaken.
The local grapevine has made public his plans to leave Karam Apna Apna to develop his career and also spare more time for his personal life and the love of his life Sneha Chhabra whom he plans to marry in January 2007.
Iqbal Khan who hails from Kashmir is a thoroughly religious man with his own value systems and beliefs. As a pious Muslim he observes the fasts during Ramzan despite his busy and erratic shooting schedules for it enables him to be hale and hearty throughout. Iqbal Khan truly a phenomena among the younger generation is a prototype of the Salman Khan image in the small screen. A romantic but humane at heart Iqbal Khan exemplifies the modern day ideal hero.
