New Delhi (UNI): After reality shows, the trend of having music albums on popular serials on the small screen seems to have increasingly come into vogue. After music albums on popular serials like Indian Idol, Fame Gurukul, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin on Sony, Nach Baliye and Remix on Star, a music album on the historical serial Dharti Ka Veer Yodha - Prithviraj Chauhan has been launched by Star plus.

Being brought out by Times Music and Sagar Arts, the producers of the opeulently-mounted historical, the music album, titled Dharti Ka Veer Yodha- Prithviraj Chauhan, after the TV show, will be available in music stores from today. Playback singers like Roop Kumar Rathod, Sadhna Sargam, Udit Narayan, Suresh Wadekar, Shreya Ghosal and Babul Supriyo lend their voices to the album, which is a collection of seven exclusive tracks.

Sagar Arts International, the makers of the serials, as well the channel heads in Star, feel that the launch of an album on the serial about Prithviraj Chauhan, which began airing on the channel last month, would enjoy a huge popularity among the music lovers given the fact that it deals with one of the most popular personalities in India's history.

Dharti Ka Veer Yoddha-Prithviraj Chauhan deals with the life of the Rajput ruler, whose tale has formed the subject of few films on television serials in the past. ''This is the first ever series on Indian television on a character who has held such a central role in history and yet remained unspoken about. A character, who is truly larger than life, Prithviraj Chauhan, despite his young age, won many a crucial battle and set an example of indomitable character. His life has all the shades of grandeur, bravery and opulence which makes for a perfect TV viewing,'' Star India Pvt Ltd Executive Vice-President Deepak Saigal says.

''What could be a better way of extending our brand experience, taking it from visual to an audio experience than the launch of a music album on a hugely popular and one of the most opulently-mounted serials like Dharti Ka Veer Yodha-Prithviraj Chauhan. After the success of the Nach Baliye, Remix and STAR Parivaar Awards albums, we are sure that this new launch will be one of the major milestones for extensions of STAR's Entertainment properties and the music category,''Ajay Vidyasagar, Executive Vice President, STAR India said.

The seven tracks of the album have been penned by veteran lyricist Ravindra Jain, who is also the music director of the album. However the music for the title track is given by Gaurav Issar and the lyrics are penned by Dr Sohan Sharma. Recent experience also shows that launch of a music album on a popular soap opera is usually a way for its makers and the respective channels to cash in on the brand equity already enjoyed by the TV show. For example, the huge popularity of serials Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Indian Idol and Fame Gurukul led their makers as well as the channel (Sony) to come out with music albums on the serials which also turned out to be as popular as the serials themselves.
