New Delhi (UNI): Emotional dramas and action thrillers may have long gone 'out of vogue' but comedies continue to be the 'flavour of the season' on the big as well as the small screen.
With the stupendous response this year to films like Namaste London and television shows like 'Naya Office Office' and 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge', all of whom owe their popularity to their success in tickling the 'funny bone' of the audience, and proving yet again that 'drawing laughs' still remain the best bet to rake in mega bucks and viewers' attention, an number of TV channels are coming up with new comedy shows in a bid to boost their TRPs.
The latest to jump on the bandwagon is Doordarshan which has come up with a new comedy show 'Nonsense Unlimited' on its national channel, DD1.
Being produced by Ranjit Singh under the banner Palco Video (who have already produced many popular serials for Doordarshan such as 'Hum Honge Kamyab', 'Right Choice' , 'Baar Baar Dekho', 'Bachchon Ki Adalat', 'Sorry Sir' and many others), 'Nonsense Unlimited' will feature the 'Maestro of laughter' Gurpreet Ghuggi who has regaled many a viewer with his witty one liners in films like 'Humko Diwana Kar Gaye' and the recently-released 'Namaste London'.
Gurpreet Ghuggi hosts the show along with artists like Narender Bedi, Anil Pandit, Nilesh Chacha, Kamal Kumar, Sonia Rathod, Gurcharan Kaur, Gopi Bhalla, Suraj Kalra, and Anjali.
As the name of the show suggests, the USP of the show will be ''laughter and only laughter'.
' Nonsense unlimited is a different from the comedy shows aired on other channels in that the show will have 'laughter and only laughter'. The main effort is to make it more entertaining,' Gurpreet Ghuggi said. Being aired on the prime time on DD every Wednesday, 'Nonsense Unlimited' is divided into four sections. In the first section, Gurpreet Ghuggi will present simple things in his inimitable comic style. The second section will feature two comedy gags with the hosting artists taking up a current issue and presenting it in a humorous vein. Another section is the 'sms section' in which Gurpreet Ghuggi will invite the viewers to send their Jokes by SMS and the best Jokes will be spoken by the Gurpreet Ghuggi in the coming episode. The comedy show on DD1 comes close on the heels of the 'Naya Office Office' and 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' shows on Star One which have evoked a lot of excitement among TV viewers.
