Emphasizing its dominance in the slot of extended prime time, India's leading Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus is all set to launch its new family drama "Santaan" to be aired from October 22, Monday through Thursday, 7.30 pm.

A first-of-its-kind story, "Santaan" is based on unique relationships and a common thread that binds them all. It is the tale of Gayatri and Parikishit Dixit, an extraordinary couple that faces hardships and turmoil to keep their family closely, happily and strongly knitted. The Dixits work very hard, compromising on almost all luxuries and limiting their needs, with the sole aim of securing a bright future for their three kids – Kartik, Adwait and Suhana. Their only dream is to see their children well-established and happy for the rest of their lives. Despite the odds, Parikshit and Gayatri are a satisfied couple, until life reveals its darker side. Destiny begins to trample their dreams of a fulfilled family life.

"Santaan" is dedicated to all parents who have overcome barriers in life to create a promising and bright future for their children. The serial will narrate the real-life story of a family-next-door in today's time and age, first time ever on television.

Set in the backdrop of Kanpur , the show depicts the lifestyle and generation gap, and conflicting values and morals between parents and children. With its emotive portrayal of the story, the show will find immediate relevance in the present-day society, where each character will be easy to relate to.

The show also captures the real and immense internal strength of the characters as they juggle with their hopes and aspirations and their share of troubles too. The show will indeed be a remarkable replay of real-life happenings in reel life. The producers are Neelima and Shyam Bajpayee, under the banner of Shakuntalam Telefilms, and the director is Sujit Singh. Introducing an interesting line-up of cast, "Santaan" will bring together a few fresh faces alongside accomplished actors like Diwakar Pundhir (playing Parikshit), Samraagi (playing Gayatri), Sudip Sahir (playing Kartik) and Daljit Kaur (playing Suhana).

So, will Parikshit and Gayatri be able to cope up with the lifestyle of the GeNext? Will the differences of opinion lead to rifts in the father-son and mother-daughter relationships?

Find out in "Santaan", starting October 22 on Star Plus, Monday to Thursday, 7.30 p.m.
