In daily soaps, losing one valuable day of work is almost unthinkable. So imagine the mayhem when three leading actors of a show fall sick together. The unit of 'Saathii Re', on Star One had to face a similar predicament recently when actors Parakh Madan, Aamir Dalvi and Rakesh Bapat fell ill one after the other, making the schedule of the show go haywire.
Leading man Aamir Dalvi was the first to go down with food poisoning.
"I must have eaten something wrong which affected my system badly. But I kept working for a few hours every day. Soon after, Parakh too fell ill with viral fever. Her condition was bad, in fact very bad and she has still not recovered completely. But thankfully I am fit now", he says.
Rakesh Bapat wasn't spared either as he contracted viral fever soon after. He blames it on the seasonal change. "It was not that easy to move on, and working that way was tough. One needs to have immense strength to face such adversities and for me its just passion for acting and performing that kept me going", says Rakesh.
When we contacted Parakh, she said she is in the recovery process, still suffering from a bad throat and weakness.
The production team had a tough time adjusting things given the adverse circumstances. "Yes we had to chancel our shoot on two occasions. We used to call the actors for three / four hours for close up shots. For long shots we managed with body doubles. We are also thankful to our writers for making things easier. The actors too pushed themselves in spite of their bad state", says Abdul Karim, supervising producer of the show.
No wonder, all three actors are also unanimous in their support for the production team. Says Aamir,"The entire team was very co-operative. Despite the immense work pressure, my unit took care of me in that feeble state and asked me to leave the shoot and go home to rest".
Blame it on the weatherman or sheer bad luck but it was indeed a tough time to face for anyone. Every one is breathing easy now that the worst is over.
