After establishing his son as the next 'big thing' of Bollywood, Big B Amitabh Bachchan has now shifted his focus towards daughter Shweta Nanda. And the former Bachchan, married to Nandas of Escort Industries will be seen in NextGen, a brand new show on Pronoy Roy's NDTV Profit. And if the sources are anything to go by, its Bachchan senior on whose advice Shweta has taken the big leap.
NextGen will be a weekly, half-hour programme on NDTV Profit in association with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), and will be aired from Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 8.30 pm. The 12-part series will be in a free-flowing interview format, and will feature twelve people below the age of forty, representing varied fields such as art, literature, sports, films, fashion and business. What sets this show apart from the usual 'run of the mill' shows, is the fact that this is going to be the second show hosted by a Bachchan and knowing the pedigree, one can not be less sure that this would recreate the magic of KBC.
Speaking on the occasion, Raj Nayak, CEO of NDTV Media Ltd, said, "We at NDTV are delighted to have Shweta Nanda host NDTV Profit's brand new show - NextGEN. This is a show about Gen X's aspiration, philosophy, ambitions and vision to success. We believe that Shweta has a natural charm that will appeal to our viewers. The NDTV family welcomes Shweta onboard as she steps into the spotlight for the very first time."
Expressing her excitement on her television debut on NDTV Profit, Shweta Nanda said, "It's a great honour to be a part of such an incredible team at NDTV. Today's youth has a go-getter attitude, and is confident, outspoken and ambitious. Hosting this show gives me an excellent opportunity to connect with them. On my television debut, I want to thank NDTV and my family for their never ending support and their utmost confidence in me."
