A star's growth to immortality is filled with moments when challenges have to be taken up, open forts have to be broken and kingdoms that were fiefdoms of earlier immortals have to be conquered. To prove to be an immortal every star has to take these tests and come out as a winner.

King Khan is up against such a challenge and this time in front of the entire nation. The question in everyone's mind is would Shahrukh deliver? Khan is well aware of the challenges. He is to step into Big B's shoes, who had made KBC one of the most successful game shows of Indian television.

From the official reports KBC appears to be following the same format as that of the older versions except for some phrases like 'Kaccha-kaccha ya pakka-pakka?' 'Mr Computer, kya hai jawab' and 'freeze kiya jaaye', in the conventional King Khan style. If the contestant would like to change the question, SRK will request Mr. Computer for a "Palat", typical Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge hallmark. This means that the Khan will have to dig deeper into his antics and come out with a performance that would make the latest edition of KBC one of the most booming games shows of India and bigger than the earlier versions of KBC. The first edition was a success both because KBC as a format was unique, and due to its one crore-prize money as well as due to Big B. This makes his job more difficult and challenging. On hindsight it can be said that if the show becomes a success that would definitely be the first step for Khan towards immortality. Shahrukh is adept at putting contestants at ease with his individual style.

Tonight's episode of KBC 3 will have last season's tip over candidate Prasenjit Sarkar in the hot seat with Shahrukh himself rendering a Bengali poem for him. Khan was all-enthusiastic to give Sarkar a high-five whenever he came up with the right answer. "After a while, Prasenjit got a little over excited and started hitting Shah Rukh's hand really hard. In his trademark witty style, Shah Rukh remarked how he may have to let go off his hand if Sarkar continued to hit it that hard!" Siddharth Basu notes that Shahrukh's friends as well as his family are there to support him in his endeavour. Star Plus will inaugurate the show with a special music video called "Kar le kar le tu aek sawaal" tailor-made for the show.

A career that started off from the small screen has come back to small screen to face the test of fire. Shahrukh is lucky that he has got a challenge that would take him to the top echelons but if he does not then it would require him something bigger than KBC, which is not easy to come.

Those who would like to give up the game unlike at the time of Big B when they had to merely say "I Quit" now they can grab the golden chance by echoing "Shah Rukh, main aapko galey lagana chahta hoon". What more need they ask for...than a warm hug from their superstar. The question is to win or to lose.

Goodluck Shahrukh.!
