Court clears Bigg Boss of obscenity charges

Hearing on a petition filed by the producers of the reality show Bigg Boss the Bombay High Court has cleared the show of obscenity charges. The court also directed the police not to take any action against the producers of the show including participants Rahul Mahajan, Sambhavana Seth and Payal Rohatgi. Justice V K Tahilramani has adjourned the hearing till 24th of October.

An FIR was filed by the Mumbai Youth Congress President Sunil Ahire against the producers Endemol, its director and three contestants Rahul Mahajan, Sambhavana Seth and Payal Rohatgi on the grounds that the show was obscene. Incidentally Sanjay Nirupam a member of the Congress party had also taken part in the show this season.

The producers of the show alleged that the FIR was politically motivated against Rahul Mahajan who is the son of late BJP leader Promod Mahajan. There are also speculations that the competitors of Colors might be fueling the entire obscene issue as it is a well known fact that Colors has taken a major market share with its popular entertainment shows.
