Ishmeet Singh meets tragic end

Singer Ishmeet Singh, winner of the popular Star Plus reality show Voice of India 2007, was drowned in a swimming pool in Male, Maldives on Tuesday evening. He had arrived in the Indian Ocean atoll nation early on Tuesday to sing at a musical concert on Friday.

The 19-year-old singer was frolicking in a shallow pool meant for children. He jumped into the deep-end of the main swimming pool. He did not know swimming and was drowned in the pool. He was immediately taken to the nearby hospital with the help of a boat by Dhonveli resort people but within fews seconds he breathed his last.

Ishmeet had won the 'Voice of India' singing contest against his closest rival Harshit from Uttar Pradesh on 26th Nov 2007. Lata Mangeshkar had given him the winner's trophy. Ismeet had also done a number of shows in the city and at Guru Nanak Public School where he studied.

The budding star's tragic end has cut short a promising singing spirit of India. But his melodious voice will continue to haunt the memories of his fans and all music lovers.
