Shalini’s casting problems in Sabki Laadli Bebo

Casting in TV serials is a very fickle business. Well known actress Shalini Kapoor (Jai Maa Durga, Saath Saath) recently experienced this unsavory practice first hand. She says," I was approached by production house, Endemol to play the role of Kanwaljit Singh 's wife in Sabki Laadli Bebo. This Star Plus show focuses on love for the girl child.

At first I refused on the grounds that I will look quite young compared to Kanwaljit. I also did not want to play mother to grown up people" But the creative"s tried their best to convince her saying that this is how the TV scene works After lots of persuasion, Shalini, who recently got married, finally said yes.

But on the last minute Shalini was informed that the channel had suddenly changed it"s mind citing the same above reservation that she had earlier pointed out, “I was waiting for the call time and was not getting the required SMS, so I called up Endemol and only then did they have the guts to tell me that I was not doing the role."

A source added that money could be the real reason behind the channel's volta face for the actress who currently plays Kanwaljeet wife, Shailley Kaushik is not a well known face. She has only done one show before this. Thus the channel would have to pay less to her as compared to Shalani, pointed out the source. But when we spoke to Shalini about the same, she refused to comment.
