All eyes were glued to the television screens yesterday night to witness the new Indian Idol. As expected, Sourabhee Debbarma, the cheerful and talented singer, won the coveted title. This girl from Tripura is the first female to win the Indian Idol.
The winner of the Indian Idol 4 was probably sealed at the last episode. The North-Eastern singing sensation won the hearts of the television viewers with her consistent performance all through the show. Her performance in the last episode was outstanding and the judges couldn't stop praising her.
In fact, the judges Javed Akhtar, Anu Malik, Kailash Kher and Sonali Bendre looked relieved when the winner of the Indian Idol 4 was announced. Sonali even presented the jubilant Sourabhee with the favourite brand watch. She walked away with a Rs.10 million contract with Sony TV, a car and a trophy after beating her fellow contestants Bengali girl Torsha Sarkar and army man Kapil Thapa.
Adding glamour to the event, John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh graced the event as part of promotion for their forthcoming film New York.
