MasterChef India 2: Shipra Khanna beats Shazia in the Grand Finale

Shipra Khanna went on to win the MasterChef India Season 2 in a nail biting finish. The episode was aired on Sunday, January 1st. While Shipra went on to win Rs 1 crore and a cookery show on Star Plus, Shazia won a cash award of Rs 10 lakh while second runner up Joseph won Rs 5 lakh along with a job at Rennaisance Hotel, Mumbai.

In the grand finale of MasterChef India 2, hosted by Akshay Kumar, Shipra Khanna became the winner by beating Shazia. Joseph came third. Shipra Khanna, who is a single mom also has won a cookery show on Star Plus.

Shazia, however, chose to share her money with previous contestants Vijayalakshmi and Rajendra. Though Shazia initially chose to share her prize money with Vijayalakshmi and Joseph, Akshay Kumar asked her to share with Rajendra as Joseph had already won himself a prize money of Rs 5 lakh.

In the last segment of MasterChef India 2, both Shipra and Shazia were asked to prepare a signature dish. Once they were done, both were asked to become executive chef of a group of junior chefs from Rennaisance Hotel, Mumbai. The chefs were instructed to help the two ladies in preparing the signature dish for hundred odd audience who would judge the dish.

The audiences were then asked to vote for the dish, without knowing whom they are voting for. While Shazia got 47 points, it was Shipra Khanna who won the audience vote by getting 53 points.
