Interview: Mona Singh excited to start second innings with KHTV

Popular TV actress Mona Singh, who is making a comeback in daily soaps on small screen after a gap of six years, with Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada was skeptical of her second innings and hopes it would be as eventful as the previous one. Mona rose to stardom on small screen with her debut show Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi. Her performance in the hit serial won her praise from all quarters but she chose to stay away from fiction and did reality shows as a participant and host.

In an interview to PTI, Mona Singh said, "I was approached six months ago for the show. I was not very sure to make a comeback or not as its a daily show. When I did Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi I had no personal life.. all time work, work and work. But Ekta convinced me. I hope my second innings on television is as good as the first one."

The show featuring Pawan Shankar and Mona in lead is about a married couple trying to re-discover marital love. It was the script that made Mona accept the show. Mona Singh said, "I am just loving the comeback. Not that I went away from TV but yes I was away from fiction. It is beautiful to make a comeback with a show like this."

The TV actress added, "There are various reasons for me to take up the show like the character and beautiful story line. Also, I think as an actor I was done with hosting and there was nothing more left to do on reality show. I had participated, hosted only judging was left. So I thought before moving on to that level so I thought its better to act again."

In the show, Mona essays the role of a mother of three kids and it reminded her of days spend with her mother. "I like taking up challenges and as an actor I think we all can do that (play mother), tomorrow I can also play Mother India. I started up with looking ugly on TV show, which nobody wanted to, then I played a pregnant woman in 3 Idiots and now I play a mother of three kids. So its an experience as an actor and it is my own journey. I get to learn a lot as an actor. I am enjoying the experience," she said.

"My mother is my role model and I tried to imbibe her in this character. While enacting a scene for this show I remembered that it had actually happened with me in real life with my mother. So I am reliving my moments that I shared with my mother," she said. Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada will be telecast from January 30 on Sony Entertainment channel at 10 pm.
