Aamir Khan's Satyamev Jayate approved

By Girija Narayan

Aamir Khan's monumental TV show Satyamev Jayate, a show that dealt with the current social issues in our society, got into trouble with the episode that dealt with organic farming. Pesticides Manufacturers and Formulators Association Of India (PMFAI) filed a complaint, putting a stay on the further broadcasting.

The episode dealt with choosing organic farming rather than using pesticides and insecticides. They spoke in detail the benefits of using organic farming and stop opting chemical farming.

The PMFAI said that episode had no experts from The Ministry of Agriculture, Central Insecticides Board or Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

The Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) met on April 12 with representatives of Star Plus, Aamir Khan Productions and PMFAI representatives to discuss this.

The BCCC found that even though the programme was critical of the use of pesticides, they dealt with the issue with proper sensitivity and maturity.

This has put an end to the issue and the producers can further broadcast the show.
