15th of August, India's 66th Independence Day saw the entire nation unite to be a part of the 7-hour-long marathon show Saath Hai Hum Uttarakhand on all Star channels. The show was hosted by the entire Hindi film industry coming together to perform and raise funds to help the flood-hit Uttarakhand.

The event was broadcast live on all Star India's channels between 12 noon to 7 pm, including Star Plus, Star Utsav, Star Pravah, Life OK and Channel V. The entire advertisement revenue was channelled to work on the rehabilitation of the hill-state.

The definite highlight of this honourable event was the special anthem, Mera Desh, which was written by Mr Joshi, composed by Shahkar-Ehsaan-Loy and was sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Mr Amitabh Bachchan.

Television actors including celebrities from top television shows of the Star network such as Diya Aur Baati Hum, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, Saraswatichandra, Savdhaan India, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev and India's Dancing Superstars contributed to the event by making their presence felt.

Star India will encourage its viewers across the globe to lend their support and donate generously for the cause through several dedicated channels. These donation lines will be open from August 15 to September 7, and the entire funds collected through this period will be channelled to the two NGO partners. The use of funds will be overseen by a team of independent auditors.

Star India's initiative is an extension of its philosophy to use television as a tool to create awareness for the larger good of the society. This belief is reflected in the network's refreshing and inspiring content that instils a sense of hope in its viewers and persuades them to be the change they want to see around them.

Both the Baadshahs of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan's presence made the show all the more special.

Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani were at the event together. Their film Grand Masti is all set for its release next month.

King Khan

King Khan Shahrukh Khan was at the event to show his support for the noble cause. The spectacular response his film Chennai Express has been getting might be the cause for the actor's calm presence.

Anil Kapoor's Gentleman Presence

Anil Kapoor gave a very gentlemanly appearance at this Star network's marathon show.

Ayushman Khurrana was at the event and he gave a good performance.

Nakuul Mehta

Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meeta Meeta Pyaara Pyaara's lead actor Nakuul Mehta was at the event representing his show.

Imran Khan

Imran Khan looked trimmed and fit at the marathon show. His film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara released last week and has got mixed reviews so far.
