BBC Shows Go Off-Air Due To Fire Scare

By Ians English

London, May 10 (IANS): BBC's TV show BBC Breakfast temporarily went off air and the staff were forced to evacuate the building during a fire scare.

An alarm was set off at the broadcaster's buildings in Salford Friday and those, both in front and behind the cameras on BBC Breakfast had to leave the studio and assemble outside the building, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The show was briefly off-air and later a pre-recorded footage of a reporter swimming with crocodiles for BBC World was broadcast instead.

Bosses on the Beeb programme told viewers via Twitter: "You're currently being looked after by BBC World, we're back in the building and will be with you again shortly. bbcbreakfast."

Radio channel BBC 5 Live also shut down for a short time, which was featuring an interview with comedian Ricky Gervais.

Normal programming resumed after several minutes.
