Indian television has proved to be a boon for many actors; some move forward to lucrative film offers and some move on to other channels seeking better roles.
Their exits or so called ‘moving-on’ has been sometimes a sweet or not-so-sweet experience for some.
KUSHAL TANDON- BIG BOSS
Big Boss 7 was in the news for a lot of reasons last year ; one being Kushal Tandon’s eviction from the show due to his violent and aggressive behavior towards contestant Andy. His high-drama exit with beau Gauahar Khan stole TRPs and became a topic of discussion with Kushal fans calling it ‘unfair’ and a matter of ‘bias’ towards Armaan Kohli who was also in the news for his temperament.
SUNIL GROVER- COMEDY NIGHTS WITH KAPIL
Sunil Grover, better known as Gutthi in Comedy Nights bid farewell to the show last year. Sunil’s female character has become a huge hit and the audience missed Gutthi badly. Where his shocking exit was on one hand explained as differences between the producer and host Kapil and Sunil, another reason cited was Sunil ‘moving on’ for better opportunities.
PRATYUSHA BANERJEE- BALIKA VADHU
One of Indian television’s famous shows ‘Balika Vadhu’ which began with the story of a young Anandi married at an early age progressed to an 18 year old Anandi played by Pratyusha Banerjee. Pratyusha became a household name in the show and her exit came as a rude shock to many. Some cited her tantrums on the sets as the reasons while other rumours suggested an amicable separation from her team. Her exit made way to Toral Rasputra who is slowly being accepted as Anandi.
KARAN SINGH GROVER- QUBOOL HAI
Raqesh Vashisht received a lot of flak when he replaced the very popular Karan Singh Grover in the serial ‘Qubool Hai’. Where Karan’s alleged unprofessionalism on the sets was the reason behind the producer’s decision to replace him health reasons keep making rounds. However, Raqesh was prompted to quit the serial within a few months due to non-acceptance by the audience in Asad’s role.
DHRASHTI DHAMI AND RANVIR SHOREY- JHALAK DIKHLA JAA
Barely few weeks since its inception, the hosts of dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ Dhrashti Dhami and Ranvir Shorey face the axe. Where Manish Paul has been finalized to replace Dhrashti, VJ Andy is being considered in place of Ranvir. Lack of spontaneity and presentation skills have been cited as reasons for the same. Manish has been hosting the show till the last season and mesmerized the audiences with his antics!
