Kapil Sharma: Out Of Innocent Excitement I Re-Tweeted Modiji's Comment

By Girija Narayan

Kapil Sharma, who has been dragged into the middle of Modi-Rahul's political battle, is baffled by the verbal war around him. His re-tweeting Narendra Modi's comment, which was meant as an insult to Rahul Gandhi, has been blown out of proportion. He says it was just his innocent excitement that made him re-tweet Modi's comment.

Kapil's re-tweeting Modi's comment sparked an ugly war of words on twitter. By the time Kapil realised what was happening he was horrified with the extent of damage. He said, "After shooting at 4 am on Monday morning I came to know that some mischievous tweets had triggered off a verbal war. When I looked on twitter I was horrified to see people using dirty abusive language for one another. I couldn't understand what provoked them."

Kapil said he re-tweeted out of sheer excitement over Modi mentioning his show. "Out of a sense of innocent excitement I re-tweeted Modiji's comment where he mentioned my show. How was I to know it would spark off a very ugly and undesirable verbal battle on the social network?" said the host and producer of the popular comedy show Comedy Nights With Kapil.

Baffled with the extent of the ugliness that was caused by his innocent act, Kapil said his intention was not to provoke anybody and he is not affiliated to any political party. "Our show has fans of all cultures and religions all over the world. We want people to forget all their differences and become one when they watch ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil'. Even the fact that I could've even indirectly provoked this ugly war of words pains me a lot. I am not affiliated to any politician or political party," Kapil said.
