Here's Why TV Show Jodha Akbar Is Better Than Hrithik-Aishwarya Film Jodhaa Akbar!

By Girija Narayan

Zee TV's Jodha Akbar is undoubtedly one of the most watched and loved daily shows on Indian television today. The tale of Akbar and his wife Jodha interwoven with the complexities of being the King of Mughal empire, recited beautifully on the fabric of a daily show, is too complicated to be told in a time-constrained feature film.

Jodhaa Akbar, the full fledged film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, starred superstars like Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. But the tale so complex compressed in a 303 minutes movie will sure miss out on a lot of details.

The details which can have a broad canvas when told through a daily show. Jodha Akbar, directed by Santram Verma (initially produced by Ekta Kapoor) is currently dealing with one such layered scenario, starring Rajat Tokas and Paridhi Sharma. The historical, fictional drama which sure stands out among the monotonous shows whose sole intention is to churn ratings rather than tell a story.

Akbar, would realise that his Badi Ammi, who is also the Vasirey Aaliya of his empire, has conspired against his wife and betrayed him out of mere vengense. This though was told in the film as well, has been told in detail on the show, including the painful emotions the characters, involved, go through.

The pain a son goes through when he realises his mother has betrayed him; the portrayal of a heartbroken emperor, who is guilt-stricken for having accused his innocent wife of being an impostor; a wife's anger on her husband for doubting her character; the emotions a wife goes through when she is fighting an internal battle while declaring she would rather be away from her husband than take a chance at her self respect... What justice can a feature film do to these emotions?
