Diya Aur Baati Hum: Family Gets The News Of Sandhya’s Death

Diya Aur Baati Hum's July 16th episode: Zakir organizes a thorough search into the river, but does not find Sandhya’s body there. Sooraj and Babasa come to the police station. The officer on duty tells them that Sandhya must be out for some secret operation and he does not have any information about her.

Zakir comes to the site of the blast. A man shows him a charred body within the compartment. Zakir informs the chief. He tells Zakir to go to Sandhya’s house. The family members spend a sleepless night praying to God for Sandhya’s safe return.

The neighbors come in the Rathi house to comfort the family members. Ved becomes impatient to see Sandhya. Zakir knocks at the door; Ved thinks his mother has come back. The police officers carry Sandhya’s coffin into the house.

Zakir says that Sandhya has died in the blast of the Sushmita Express. She was on duty and she is acknowledged as a martyr. Babasa becomes defiant. He says that it cannot be his daughter-in-law; he insists on seeing the body.

Zakir stops Babasa. He says that Babasa would not be able to bear the horrible sight. Sandhya’s body is absolutely burnt and it is not identifiable. The police department has become sure only after the DNA test, says Zakir.

Bhabho remains dumb throughout. She only remembers that Sandhya promised to her that she would never neglect her family for her duty. Sooraj recalls that he has forever told Sandhya that their companionship is like that of a lamp and its flame, ‘diya’ and ‘baati’; one is incomplete without the other.
