Here's Why An Indian Version Of Game Of Thrones Is A Major Catastrophe!

By Girija Narayan

The one word every Game Of Thrones fan in India are currently howling on top of their voices - NO! No, No and a clear No!

The George R.R. Martin's TV adaptation of A Song Of Ice And Fire, Game Of Thrones, is reportedly going to be remade by Sony Entertainment Television, entitled Rani Mahal. The news shocked and simultaneously mortified the fans who know the current TV scenario on Indian Television.

"Rani Mahal is set in 1857 and will be one of the most expensive daily soap on the small screen. The show revolves around the politics the women of a palace indulge in and is inspired from popular American fantasy drama series, Game of Thrones," says Dramatize website.

After the initial shock of an Indian version of Game Of Thrones sinks in, the subsequent shocks of Sakshi Tanwar playing Daenerys Targareyn, the Mother of Dragons and Anita Hassanandani playing Cersei Lannister and a Parth Samthaan playing Jon Snow will keep the dreadful feeling in your stomach for days.

With all due respect to the avid television viewers all across India, Game Of Thrones, is a difficult nut to crack and very tricky to unravel the tales of the Starks, the Lannisters, the seven kingdoms, the Targareyns, the white walkers, the violence, the cruelty, the nudity, the incest, the boldness, the fantasy, the beauty in a daily soap for Indian TV.

And accept it, the TRP race among shows will not let the spirit of the show be left intact by the end of it.
