Recently, Kiku Sharda, who played the role of Palak on Comedy Nights With Kapil, was arrested for mimicking Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. The incident not only shocked us, it also surprised the actor, as he didn't realise what went wrong at that point of time!
Kiku was busy shooting for the last day of shoot of Comedy Nights With Kapil, with Akshay Kumar. Narrating the incident (the day of his sudden arrest), Kiku told TOI, "We were all surprised to see cops on the set around 11.30 pm when we were planning to wind up the shoot."
Kiku added, "We had plans to party at Kapil's office since it was the last day of our shoot. We were all shocked as we couldn't figure out what was happening. They arrested me immediately and took me to Mumbai airport and we flew to Delhi."
The actor-comedian further said, "We landed in Delhi around 3am and I was taken to a town called Kaithal in Haryana. I had no idea what was going on. I was only told that an FIR had been lodged against me under Section 295 A of the IPC for 'Deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings'. I had no idea where I went wrong."
He said that summon was not issued to him. There was no warrant and no legal procedure followed before arresting him. Kiku was presented before the court with almost 40 policemen.
Kiku added, "The way people were being aggressive, anything could have happened to me. Agar police nahi hoti toh wahan kuch bhi ho sakta tha (Anything could have happened there in the absence of police)."
It was indeed scary for the actor, who didn't commit any crime, and was presented before court!
