Is MS Dhoni: The Untold Story's Rhea Sharma, The Lead Actress in Diya Aur Baati Hum Season 2?

Star Plus' cult show Diya Aur Baati Hum came to an end on 11 September, 2016. The protagonists Sandhya and Sooraj met a fateful death in a bomb blast, while saving the country from the clutches of the terrorists.

As we had reported earlier, Diya Aur Baati Season 2 is in the making and now, it looks the makers are busy hunting for a new face to carry forward the legacy of the show.

Diya Aur Baati Hum Season 2 will have Sooraj and Sandhya's daughter, Kanak as the main protagonist. If reports are to be believed, Kanak will be a spoiled brat and her relationship with Bhabho would be under rocks.

Earlier, it was said that 'Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan' actress Niti Taylor was shortlisted for the role. Later, it was speculated that Divyanka Tripathi's cousin, Kanika Tiwari has bagged the meaty role.

As per the latest reports, Kanika Tiwari has backed out at nick of the moment and actress Rhea Sharma has been finalised for the role. Rhea Sharma was last seen in the Bollywood film, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story in a cameo role.

Actor Avinash Rekhi of 'Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon fame' has been finalised as the male lead of season 2. Actors Mayank Arora and Kabeer Kumar have been roped in to play Sandhya and Sooraj's sons, Vansh and Ved.

As per a leading entertainment portal, the show will go on floors by the end of this month and initial episodes wil be shot in Kerala. The new season will focus on Kanak's journey and how she will win Bhabho's love and carry the legacy of her parents.
