Good news for fans! One of the most popular sitcom shows, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai will return as a web series in the month of May.
Undoubtedly, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai was one of the finest sitcom shows ever made in the history of Indian television. The show, which revolved around a posh Gujarati family - the Sarabhais in Mumbai, became a rage in no time!
The show starred Satish Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly and Rosesh in the lead roles. The series which gained positive responses from the critics and audiences alike and raked in huge TRPs for the channel. Not only that, the show swept many awards for its unique content and powerful performances.
Over the years, the show has attained a cult status and the running gags of the same, are remembered till date. Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Returns After A Hiatus
They are back. Yes! The entire gang re-united at Satish Shah's birthday bash last year and producer of the show, Jamnadas Mathejia hinted at a season 2 in the pipeline.
The Tweet
He tweeted, "Sarabhai family at Satish ji's place.... Some good news for fans on its way." The fans went berserk upon reading the tweet and were eagerly awaiting for an officical announcement from the makers. Their wish has finally been fulfilled.
Show To Return As A Web Series
After a decade, the show is all set to make a comeback on public demand, but as a web series. Reportedly, the show will take a 7-year leap and the shooting of which will begin by the month-end.
The Producer Says...
In an interview to a leading entertainment portal, the producer spoke about the show's comeback. He told, "After the show wrapped up, all of us, including the actors, got busy with other commitments. However, at every public event and even at private functions in the last 10 years, I was always asked when Sarabhai vs Sarabhai was returning."
The Show To Launch In May
Furthermore, "It was public demand which finally compelled us to set aside everything else and concentrate on developing a quality script which lives up to the audience's expectations. Shooting will continue all through April. We we are targeting a May release."
New Characters
The season 2 will return with the same cast, but they will be introducing new characters. Reportedly, the actors will be getting a new look in the season 2, but the producer has confirmed that there won't be any change which people have loved in the past.
Writer Aatish Kapadia has spent three months on the script and will be co-directing the new season, along with Deven Bhojani. Reports even suggest that the team have already had two readings and look tests last month.
"Alim Hakim tried a new hairstyle with Rajesh last month. We'll be meeting for readings again closer to the shoot," concludes Mathejia.
