Drashti Dhami’s exit from Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka has surprised the fans. The director of the show, Sunjoy Wadhwa reveals the real reason behind her exit.
Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka has been grabbing headlines since the beginning. The show that stars Shakti Arora, Drashti Dhami and Aditi Sharma received a lot of backlash from the viewers, as they felt the show was promoting the concept of extra-marital affair. Not just the show, fans even lashed out at the actors for playing such characters. There were rumours that the show might go off air soon, but the actors rubbished the rumours. But after Colors aired the promo of the new show Tantra, the speculations of the show going off air started doing the rounds again! But, later it was clarified that Tantra was replacing Udaan.
Recently, the lead actress, Drashti's exit came as a shock to the viewers. The actress shared a lengthy and emotional goodbye to the show. While a few rumours suggested that Drashti was thinking of quitting the show since a long time (as she received flak on social media), some others suggested that the leap was the reason for her exit. Drashti Wasn’t Comfortable Playing A Mother
The producer Sunjoy Wadhwa has clarified and revealed the real reason for Drashti's exit. He was quoted by the entertainment portal as saying, "She was not comfortable playing a mother in the show, which will now soon have babies."
The Actress Had Quit ETRETR For The Same Reason
Well, it has to be recalled that the actress had quit Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani for the same reason. When the producer was asked whether he didn't think of this, he said, "Yes we felt aisa hoga, but you know---- sometimes with the passing of time. People do it and sometimes don't. But when we discussed the leap with her, she said she would be uncomfortable. Soo...."
The Leap Was Always A Part Of The Story!
When asked whether the leap couldn't be bypassed, considering Drashti is an extremely talented and beautiful actress and was the face of the show, he said, "The leap was always a part of the story. Changing the story was not advisable. A story in a TV show keeps developing with the passing of time."
Drashti Didn’t Quit Because Of The Flak She Received on Social Media
He clarified that Drashti didn't have any problem in shooting the intimate scene with Shakti, and the flak she received on social media was not the reason for her exit. He said, "I think it was soon clear after 7-8 days into the show that an extra-marital affair between Nandini and Kunal was on the cards."
The Producer Adds…
"Drashti had problems neither with that nor with the way the social media reacted after that. Also if you see carefully, we have never tried to say in the show who is right and who is wrong, let the viewer decide and we have no problem with that. And, reactions on social media spring up for almost every show don't they?"
The Parting Was Amicable
He also added that the parting has been amicable. Wadhwa said, "There is no problem here that Drashti is not doing the show any further. If I have a role in future where I want to cast Drashti, I will go to only her and nobody else. She is a very good actress, no doubt. And, we had a fantastic working relationship - not just in Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani but Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka too."
Shakti Will Miss Drashti
Drashti's co-actors Aditi and Shakti had shared an adorable picture on social media and expressed that they would miss her on the sets. Shakti told the entertainment portal, "Of course I will miss Drashti a lot. We used to have a lot of fun on the sets. The best part about her is that she is a thorough professional and punctual on the sets, and also gets ready very fast."

"We use to do a lot of spoof of scenes before shooting them. So it was very difficult for us to perform any scene later because we had already made a spoof of it in our heads. Drashti is a wonderful friend too. I wish her all the best for all her future endeavours."
