Kavi Kumar Azad, who played the role of Dr Hathi on the show, breathed his last on July 9, 2018. The actor's death had left his family, friends and fans in a state of shock! Earlier, the producer had told an entertainment portal, "We will have to replace Dr Hathi, if you want to know. It's the actor who has passed away, not the character." There have been many speculations regarding the replacement of Kavi Kumar Azad. There were also reports that Nirmal Soni, who had earlier played Dr Hathi on the show, will return to the show! But there had been no confirmation regarding the same.
Now, again it is being said that the makers are getting Nirmal Soni back on the show. His comeback will be shot in a grand way amidst Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.

According to TOI report the track will be aired probably next week (on September 13, 2018). It is also being said that Nirmal Soni had shot his entry sequence recently.
Asit Kumar Is Yet To Finalise The Actor For Dr Hathi’s Role!
When the producer of the show, Asit Kumar Modi, was contacted, he told the leading daily, "Nothing is finalised yet. We have finalised three people and we are shooting with them. We will soon lock the one who will play Dr Hathi."
Disha Vakani On Break!
It has to be recalled that Disha Vakani, who played the role of Dayaben, is on maternity leave. She has been blessed with a baby girl and is currently in a happy space. She is enjoying her motherhood!

The producer of the show was quoted by Tellychakkar as saying, "Daya has been an integral part of Taarak Mehta. Because of Disha's maternity leave, we have to give her a break. Now, talks are on about bringing Daya's character back in the show. Viewers can look forward to Daya's character in two months."
