Amit Behl Opens Up About His Role in Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si

Amit Behl feels Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si (BKAS) is an open ended title because many times in life we want to say a lot of things but are unable to, at the same time, the best things are those that are unsaid. The producer of BKAS is Rajan Shahi's Director's Kut Productions.

"So this is a story, the moment you say Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si is that there are a lot of things that one wants to say or one is not able to say because of social pressure, emotional pressure, relationship pressure, and financial pressure. So Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si is something I wanted to do, something but I was not able to say and that is the regret that I will always have," he says.

Amit plays the role of Kuldeep Malhotra in the show. "He is the head of the Malhotra family and Mohit Malik, who plays Kunal Malhotra, is my son and I have a daughter Ankita Sharma who plays Vedika. My wife has left me and I run a music empire. Kuldeep Malhotra is cut-throat and shrewd. For him money is like god, relationships don't matter. He thinks relationships are a waste of time. He has emotionally blackmailed his kids into believing a lot of lies and they believe they know the truth and he wants his son to follow his footsteps,'Jaise Baap ke nakshe kadam par bete ko chalna chahiye'," he adds.

Amit shares that Kuldeep has a lot of dark secrets because he has burnt a lot of bridges. "There are a lot of skeletons in his cupboard and there are mysteries about his wife who has left him. There is a mystery around this character. He is of course very fond of flaunting his business. He doesn't even care about relationships. He thinks his sister Pammi (played by Sheeba Akashdeep ) and her family are also misusing his funds. He is also a hypochondriac because he gets frustrated very easily, has a blood pressure problem and he is prone to taking a lot of pills. He gets hyper very easily . What drew me to this character was the various shades that Rajan Shahi sir has explained to me because Kuldeep has started on a very small note from Delhi , and has come to Mumbai and became the big music baron and owns a music company , rules the music industry. Then he moves to London and has captured the London market and now he wants to come back. So the shades, the backstory , the flashbacks, the intermingling of the relationships and Director Kut Production, Shahi production and Rajan ji's vision , the writing , and the way Rajan ji conceives the characters , that obviously drew me to this role. When Rajan ji calls, you basically don't say no because he will never misuse an actor," he says

So what's that one thing about your character that you personally relate to? "The one thing about the character that I personally relate to is yes I am also hypochondriac in real life. When I get a small headache I will be constantly googling new means to get well because I am basically a hyper, hypersensitive guy. Otherwise the rest of the traits I don't think I identify with. But then as an actor it is my duty, my job, my business to become the character because I'm living this character more than 25 days a month. So while I'm on the set when I put the makeup on and when I wear the clothes of Kuldeep Malhotra, I become the character and I am in character and try to maintain all his traits written by the writers and created by Rajan Ji till the time I don't take my makeup off and that's my business and my duty as an actor," he shares.
