Anupamaa: Gaurav Khanna Breaks Silence On Fans Criticising Anuj Kapadia, Says ‘People Need To Understand…’

Anupamaa Update: Rajan Shahi's much-loved show, featuring Rupali Ganguly in the titular role, premiered in 2020 and has been constantly topping the TRP charts since then. Featuring Gaurav Khanna as the male lead Anuj Kapadia, the family drama regularly makes headlines as the makers are churning out interesting tracks one after another.

The recent track in the hit television show Anupamaa has sparked a debate on the portrayal of Gaurav Khanna's character, Anuj Kapadia, towards his wife Anupamaa. Some viewers feel that Anuj was depicted as the perfect man and that his current behavior towards Anupama is unjustified.

On the other hand, some viewers believe that Anuj's reaction is justified given the recent events in his life. Anuj blames Anupama for not letting him fight for their daughter Choti Anu, who was taken away by her real mother Maya. The emotional portrayal of Anuj's behavior towards his wife is getting a mixed response from viewers.

GAURAV KHANNA TALKS ABOUT PEOPLE CRITICISING ANUJ KAPADIA

In a recent interview, Gaurav Khanna finally opened up about the criticism his character is receiving from a set of viewers. Calling it a 'slice-of-life show', the actor stated that Anupamaa portrays how people react differently to various situations. Anuj Kapadia, although deeply in love with his wife, is currently emotionally shattered and in a bad state. He has requested that his wife leave him alone, but Anupama wants to console him. Even mature individuals can reach their breaking point when faced with unfortunate circumstances in their lives.

Gaurav stresses that Anuj's character is a giver and a family man who has lost a lot in his life. He has lost his parents, sister, caretaker, and the love of his life. He marries Anupama after 26 years and has now lost his daughter. According to him, it is natural for a man to have an emotional outburst when he loses his child.

Talking about people even comparing him to Vanraj Shah (Sudhanshu Pandey), he further told the Bombay Times, "People need to understand that people are not perfect, they are normal and that's what our show is portraying. When you get married and have a child, the entire focus of parents is on the child. When a boat sinks, and if your child is on it, obviously you save the child first and then your other family members. Many people have also asked me about comparisons with Vanraj and even Devika (Jaswir Kaur) compares me with Vanraj's character, but I feel audiences know that the two characters are not similar."

Gaurav states that the track is exciting and a great challenge for him as an actor.
